Xerox B225 | B310 chips needed?

As expected, the long-awaited chips for Xerox B225 and Xerox B310 did not take long to appear.

And now they are already on sale. Their price is on average only about 30% cheaper than the cartridge itself.

And the same question keeps coming up: are these unlimited chips?
Unlimited Pantum chips have made users expect more.
No — these are single-use chips, good for just one refill, and no alternatives are expected for now.

Only one thought comes to mind:
“Ah, well then we’ll wait.”

While the chips are not on the market, users are willing to buy them at almost any price — as long as there is at least some gap between the cost of buying a cartridge and refilling it.

But in practice, once the chips appear at a high price, interest drops quickly.

Again, it’s the technician who buys the chips for a client, while the cartridge is purchased by the end user or the store — and these follow very different cost logics.

Is it worth it for a technician to buy chips at such a price?

Possibly, if you are purchasing them directly from the factory. One way or another, having chips available is an opportunity to earn — for example, by selling compatible cartridges.

However, Xerox is not asleep either. Literally on the same day the chips appeared, prices for original cartridges were noticeably reduced — not to mention special projects.

In any case, it’s an opportunity. And it’s not limited to Xerox alone. The same manufacturing process is used in a large number of models from other brands, such as Lexmark and Konica Minolta.

So in the foreseeable future, other long-awaited chips will also enter the market. Especially if there is enough material available (used OEM chips). The faster developers of compatible chips receive enough material, the sooner prototypes will be created and mass production will begin.
